Before you start
- Create or open your widget in Text.st under Website Widgets.
- Copy the exact install snippet shown for that widget, because it identifies your widget.
- Make sure you can edit your HTML files or shared template on your Custom HTML Website site.
Snippet example
Your snippet loads the Text.st widget from https://app.text.st/api/public/widget/loader.js and carries your widget key. The full snippet looks like this:
<script async src="https://app.text.st/api/public/widget/loader.js" data-textst-key="YOUR_WIDGET_KEY"></script>When you click Copy Code in your Text.st dashboard under Widgets → Installation, YOUR_WIDGET_KEY is automatically replaced with your workspace's actual 24-character key.
Always paste the full snippet copied from Text.st rather than this example, so your widget settings are included.
Install on Custom HTML Website
If your site sends a Content Security Policy header, allow scripts and connections from app.text.st.
- Step 1: Open the HTML file or shared footer template used by your pages.
- Step 2: Find the closing body tag near the end of the file.
- Step 3: Paste your Text.st snippet just before the closing body tag.
- Step 4: Save the file and upload it to your web host, or deploy through your usual process.
- Step 5: Load the live page in a private window to confirm the widget appears.
Test after publishing
- Open the live published page in a private or incognito window.
- Refresh the page and wait a few seconds for the widget to appear.
- Open the widget and submit a test request with your own phone number.
- Check the Lead Inbox in Text.st to confirm the request arrived.
- Test on a phone as well as a computer.
Troubleshooting
- Widget not showing: confirm the site was published and clear any site or browser cache.
- Still missing: confirm the snippet is complete and was not changed by an editor or plugin.
- Shows twice: remove duplicate copies of the snippet from other pages or settings.
- Works in some places only: check whether the code was added to all pages or a single page.
- Request not in the Lead Inbox: confirm you copied the snippet from the correct widget and workspace.
- Live texts not sent: messaging approval and activation are required before live messages can be sent.
