This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") explains the rules for using Text.st websites, applications, widgets, texting numbers, Text.st AI, lead-management features, booking tools, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
This Policy applies to every Text.st Customer, workspace owner, administrator, team member, End User, and other person who accesses or uses the Services. It forms part of the Text.st Terms of Service.
Text.st is designed to help legitimate service businesses respond to website leads, hold useful SMS conversations, answer questions, and support bookings. The Services may not be used for spam, deception, unlawful activity, harmful content, or conduct that undermines consumer trust or the messaging ecosystem.
1. Core requirements
You must use Text.st:
- lawfully and in good faith;
- only for the business, brand, number, and messaging use case approved for the workspace;
- consistently with the consent and expectations of message recipients;
- in compliance with the Text.st SMS Terms, Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, carrier rules, registration requirements, and applicable law;
- without harming Text.st, another Customer, an End User, a third party, or the messaging ecosystem; and
- without attempting to evade fees, limits, approvals, safety controls, or enforcement.
You are responsible for everyone who uses your workspace and for all messages, content, instructions, integrations, and activity associated with it.
2. Consent and messaging conduct
The Customer is the sender responsible for messages sent or authorized through its workspace. Before sending a message, you must have the consent or other lawful basis required for that recipient, message type, jurisdiction, and use case.
You must:
- identify the sending business accurately;
- use clear opt-in disclosures that describe the program and message purpose;
- state message frequency and that message and data rates may apply where required;
- explain how to opt out and obtain help;
- keep reliable evidence of consent;
- message only within the scope reasonably described at opt-in;
- honor STOP and every other reasonable revocation request;
- provide required HELP, privacy, terms, rate, and frequency information;
- maintain and respect suppression and do-not-contact records;
- follow applicable quiet-hour and contact-frequency rules; and
- keep A2P 10DLC, toll-free, campaign, number, website, sample-message, and carrier-registration information accurate and current.
You may not:
- send unsolicited bulk messages or spam;
- use purchased, rented, scraped, harvested, appended, or improperly shared phone-number lists;
- assume that an existing business relationship always authorizes marketing messages;
- transfer consent between unrelated businesses, brands, senders, or use cases;
- make marketing consent a condition of purchase where prohibited;
- continue marketing after an opt-out;
- use a new or rotated number to bypass an opt-out, block, suspension, filtering decision, or complaint history;
- conceal or falsify the identity of the sender;
- materially increase message frequency or change the message purpose without obtaining any new consent required; or
- conduct bulk SMS campaigns outside Text.st's approved lead-assistant use.
Text.st's consent, STOP, HELP, and recordkeeping tools support compliance but do not replace the Customer's legal responsibilities.
3. Prohibited unlawful, deceptive, or harmful activity
You may not use the Services to create, promote, facilitate, request, coordinate, or conceal:
- conduct that violates any law, regulation, court order, sanctions program, or legally binding restriction;
- fraud, scams, phishing, identity theft, deceptive offers, false billing, or unauthorized charges;
- impersonation of a person, business, government agency, emergency service, or trusted institution;
- materially false or misleading claims, including unsubstantiated earnings, savings, health, performance, or AI claims;
- harassment, stalking, threats, coercion, extortion, blackmail, or intimidation;
- exploitation, trafficking, abuse, or sexualization of children;
- terrorism, violent extremism, credible threats of violence, or instructions intended to cause serious harm;
- hateful conduct targeting a person or group based on a protected characteristic;
- malware, ransomware, spyware, credential theft, malicious links, or attempts to compromise a device or account;
- evasion of law enforcement, regulators, carriers, registration organizations, or platform safeguards; or
- any activity that Text.st reasonably determines creates an unacceptable risk of harm, fraud, consumer deception, or network abuse.
4. Prohibited content and commercial categories
The following content and activities are prohibited through Text.st:
- illegal drugs, illegal controlled substances, or unlawful drug paraphernalia;
- counterfeit goods, stolen property, or goods or services that infringe intellectual-property rights;
- prostitution, escort services, sexually explicit services, pornography, or adult sexual content;
- human trafficking or exploitative labor practices;
- illegal weapons, explosives, or instructions designed to facilitate violent wrongdoing;
- unlawful gambling, betting, lotteries, or prize schemes;
- fraudulent investment, cryptocurrency, lending, debt, credit, employment, government-benefit, immigration, or business-opportunity schemes;
- deceptive lead generation, unauthorized data brokerage, or selling personal information without required rights and disclosures;
- fake reviews, fabricated testimonials, undisclosed endorsements, or manipulation of ratings;
- collection or sale of authentication credentials, account-access codes, or stolen financial information; and
- any content, product, service, or category prohibited by applicable carriers, networks, registration organizations, or law.
This list is illustrative, not exhaustive. A use may be prohibited even if it is not specifically listed.
5. Restricted and regulated uses
Some lawful activities carry heightened consumer, carrier, privacy, or regulatory risk. You may use Text.st for the following only if the use is lawful, accurately registered, accepted by the relevant messaging networks, and approved by Text.st in writing when approval is requested:
- alcohol, tobacco, nicotine, vaping, cannabis, CBD, THC, firearms, weapons, or other age-restricted products;
- gambling, contests, lotteries, sweepstakes, or prize promotions;
- lending, payday or short-term credit, debt collection, debt relief, credit repair, insurance, investment, securities, cryptocurrency, or other financial products;
- political campaigns, advocacy, fundraising, or election-related messaging;
- third-party lead generation, affiliate marketing, referral networks, or messages sent for a business other than the workspace owner;
- charitable solicitations or fundraising;
- healthcare, mental-health, pharmaceutical, or treatment-related communications involving regulated health information;
- legal, financial, medical, tax, or other professional services where Text.st AI might be presented as a licensed professional; and
- any category subject to age verification, licensing, location restrictions, specialized consent, or enhanced disclosures.
Ordinary lead intake, general service information, and appointment scheduling for a legitimate regulated business may be permitted when handled lawfully and without unnecessary sensitive information. Text.st's approval does not constitute legal advice, a license, carrier approval, or a guarantee that messages will be delivered.
Text.st may require documentation, enhanced controls, a written agreement, different configuration, or suspension of automated features before permitting a restricted use.
6. Text.st AI use
You must configure, test, monitor, and supervise Text.st AI. You remain responsible for every automated or AI-assisted message and action associated with your workspace.
You may not use Text.st AI to:
- deceive people into believing an AI-generated message came from a specific human when that representation would be materially misleading or unlawful;
- impersonate a professional, public official, emergency responder, or other person;
- generate fraud, scams, phishing, threats, harassment, malware, or other prohibited content;
- make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects concerning employment, credit, housing, insurance, education, healthcare access, or another high-impact opportunity;
- provide or represent output as definitive legal, medical, financial, tax, emergency, or other licensed professional advice;
- make unsupported promises about prices, availability, outcomes, eligibility, refunds, earnings, savings, or results;
- fabricate customer consent, records, reviews, testimonials, bookings, or conversations;
- infer or exploit highly sensitive traits for discrimination, manipulation, or unlawful profiling;
- bypass safety controls, extract confidential system instructions, probe model safeguards, or interfere with AI operations; or
- use private Customer Content or Text.st output to train or improve a competing model or service without written permission.
Customers must keep business knowledge, services, hours, availability, pricing, policies, and instructions current. Human review and takeover must be used whenever the risk, sensitivity, ambiguity, or consequence of a conversation makes automation inappropriate.
7. Privacy and data protection
You may collect and process personal information through Text.st only when you have a lawful purpose and provide all required notices and choices.
You may not:
- collect more personal information than reasonably necessary for the disclosed purpose;
- submit personal information obtained unlawfully or without required rights and consent;
- collect children's personal information in violation of applicable law;
- request passwords, one-time access codes, full payment-card details, government account credentials, or authentication secrets through ordinary text conversations;
- transmit regulated health, financial, biometric, government-identifier, or other highly sensitive information unless necessary, lawful, appropriately disclosed, securely handled, and expressly supported by Text.st;
- use Customer Content to stalk, discriminate, exploit, or make prohibited high-impact decisions;
- sell, rent, or disclose mobile numbers, SMS opt-in data, or consent records for another party's marketing;
- expose Customer Content through an insecure website, integration, webhook, or destination; or
- attempt to access, identify, or reidentify another Customer's data or deidentified information.
You must promptly address privacy requests, data-quality issues, security incidents, and consent complaints relating to your business. The Text.st Privacy Policy explains Text.st's data practices.
8. Security and platform integrity
You may not:
- access or attempt to access an account, workspace, system, number, data set, or network without authorization;
- share account access with unauthorized people or defeat authentication or permission controls;
- probe, scan, test, or exploit a vulnerability without Text.st's prior written authorization;
- introduce malware, harmful code, destructive instructions, or compromised files;
- disrupt, overload, flood, degrade, or interfere with the Services or connected networks;
- generate artificial traffic, message pumping, fraudulent usage, or activity intended to create fees or consume capacity without a legitimate communication purpose;
- use bots, scrapers, crawlers, or automated tools to access the Services except through interfaces and methods Text.st expressly authorizes;
- reverse engineer, decompile, copy, frame, mirror, or attempt to derive nonpublic source code, models, prompts, logic, or infrastructure, except where a restriction is prohibited by law;
- bypass rate limits, usage allowances, fees, registration, number restrictions, security controls, or account suspensions;
- use obfuscated, deceptive, malicious, or carrier-prohibited links or domains;
- conduct load testing, penetration testing, vulnerability research, or benchmarking likely to affect the Services without written permission; or
- use Text.st to attack, monitor, or interfere with any third-party service.
If you discover a potential vulnerability, do not exploit it or access data that is not yours. Report it promptly to support@text.st with the subject line Security Report.
9. Workspace, number, and resale restrictions
One Text.st workspace is for one business, one business identity, one knowledge profile, one shared messaging allowance, and the number or numbers approved for that workspace.
Unlimited widgets means unlimited widget placements for that same business. It does not permit unlimited businesses, brands, customers, workspaces, numbers, or messages.
You may not:
- use one workspace for multiple unrelated businesses or brands;
- represent a number as belonging to a business other than the approved Customer;
- operate a shared master sender identity for unrelated businesses;
- rotate, transfer, lease, sell, or share numbers to evade approvals, fees, opt-outs, filtering, or enforcement;
- resell, sublicense, white-label, or provide Text.st as a service bureau without a separate written agreement;
- use an account for undisclosed agency, affiliate, or third-party messaging;
- allow another business to use your registration, consent records, campaign, or number; or
- create multiple accounts or workspaces to circumvent limits, suspensions, payment obligations, or policy enforcement.
Additional workspaces or numbers may be purchased when offered and must be separately approved and used according to their applicable business identity and campaign.
10. Customer Content and intellectual property
You may submit only content that you own or are authorized to use. You may not use the Services to infringe or misappropriate copyright, trademark, patent, trade-secret, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, database, or other rights.
You may not remove ownership notices, falsely claim another party's content, or use a person's name, image, identity, or testimonial without required permission.
If you believe content processed through Text.st infringes your rights, email support@text.st with the subject line Rights Complaint and include enough detail for us to identify the material, understand your claim, and contact you.
11. No emergency or life-safety use
Text.st is not an emergency service, public-safety answering point, medical alert system, or replacement for 911. You may not use the Services as the exclusive or primary channel for emergencies, urgent life-safety needs, critical infrastructure control, or time-sensitive warnings where delay or non-delivery could cause serious harm.
Do not promise End Users that Text.st messages will be delivered, read, or answered immediately.
12. Cooperation and accurate information
You must provide accurate information and cooperate with reasonable Text.st requests concerning:
- business, identity, number, campaign, and A2P 10DLC or toll-free verification;
- proof of consent, opt-in forms, disclosures, screenshots, and suppression records;
- message samples, use cases, websites, domains, and expected volume;
- complaints, carrier inquiries, fraud reviews, security incidents, or legal requests; and
- remediation needed to protect End Users or restore compliant messaging.
You may not falsify, conceal, alter, or destroy relevant information. Failure to respond within a reasonable time may result in messaging restrictions or suspension.
13. Monitoring and enforcement
Text.st may use automated signals, usage patterns, complaint data, carrier feedback, and limited manual review when reasonably necessary to detect and investigate potential violations, consistent with the Text.st Privacy Policy.
Depending on the severity, history, and risk of a violation, Text.st may:
- provide guidance, a warning, or a deadline to correct the issue;
- require new consent language, registration, documentation, or configuration;
- filter, block, quarantine, or remove content or links;
- limit throughput, usage, widgets, AI features, integrations, or access;
- pause automated replies or live messaging;
- suspend or terminate a number, campaign, workspace, user, or account;
- refuse, withdraw, or cancel registration or number requests;
- preserve relevant records and cooperate with carriers, registration organizations, regulators, rights holders, or law enforcement;
- pass through applicable third-party charges, penalties, or remediation costs caused by the violation to the extent permitted by the Terms and law; and
- take any other action reasonably necessary to protect users, Text.st, third parties, or the messaging ecosystem.
Text.st may act immediately and without advance notice when delay could create harm, enable fraud or abuse, violate law, threaten security, or affect network access. Where appropriate and practicable, Text.st will provide notice and an opportunity to cure.
Suspension or termination for a violation does not erase charges already incurred and does not entitle the Customer to a refund except where required by law.
14. Reporting abuse and appealing enforcement
To report suspected spam, fraud, impersonation, unlawful content, privacy abuse, or another violation involving Text.st, email support@text.st with the subject line Abuse Report. Include the sending number, business name, date and time, message content, and relevant screenshots where available. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information.
If you receive unwanted messages, you may also reply STOP to the sending number.
A Customer may appeal an enforcement decision by emailing support@text.st with the subject line AUP Appeal. Include the workspace, number or campaign, decision being appealed, relevant facts, corrective actions, and supporting documentation. Text.st will review the appeal in good faith but may maintain restrictions while the review is pending.
15. Changes and relationship to other terms
Text.st may update this Policy to reflect changes in law, carrier rules, threats, restricted categories, or the Services. We will post the updated Policy, revise the "Last updated" date, and provide additional notice of material changes where required.
The Text.st Terms of Service govern suspension, termination, billing, disclaimers, liability, dispute resolution, California law, and Los Angeles County venue. The Text.st SMS Terms govern message-recipient disclosures and choices. If this Policy conflicts with the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service control.
